“Adopt a cow of the Lagorai”
is a funny project thought as an innovative idea to present Eastern
Valsugana and Tesino as an uncontamined green oasis. It is aimed at
making the alpine huts reality known and tries to contribute to the
enhancement of the ancient jobs of the local rural life style and the
tastes of the past. It is addressed to everybody, both local inhabitants
and tourists, especially to families with children.
The initiative consists in adopting a cow of one
of the different alpine huts of the Lagorai: the “distance adoption”
costs 60 euros and guarantees the summer maintenance of a cow. After
having signed the agreement and paid the fee, the family will receive
the identity card of the chosen cow; this identity card will contain
the photo and the name of the animal and will allow the adopters to
recognise the Lola among its many sisters.
The adopting family receives in exchange a determined
quantity of dairy products, such as milk, cheese, ricotta -
a soft white cheese made from sour milk - and butter; the adoption gives
the right to collect these products on condition that the adopting family
comes to the Lagorai, spends some days there and visits personally its
own cow. In this way people are invited to have a break in their everyday
life and go to visit their cow, and also the mountains of Eastern Valsugana
and Tesino. The adopters are also brought close to the production area
and have the possibility to understand what lies beyond living in an
alpine hut.
Adhering to this project and by going directly
to the alpine huts the adopting family can enjoy a relaxing atmosphere
and establish a relationship firstly with the malghese and
secondly with its own cow. This can be a unique opportunity to know
a new reality: the family can indeed see the different techniques of
cheese making and eventually take part in these interesting processes.
